Curtis E. “Curty” Wright, 73, of Emerson, NE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 9, 2024, at a local hospital.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 21 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Curt was born on April 23, 1951, in Scotland, SD to George and Lillian (Stoller) Wright.  He graduated from East High School in 1969.  He was united in marriage to Lori L. Larson on April 7, 1989. Curt began his career as a machinist for Prince Manufacturing in 1971, working for them for 45 years up to his retirement in 2016.

He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, 4-wheeling, and laying in the pool.  Curt was a very social person who made friends everywhere he went.  He was a longtime member of Morningside Lutheran Church.

Curt loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. His grandchildren were his whole world, and he would spend as much time with them as possible and would never miss an event. He was exceptionally proud of each of his children and grandchildren and would never miss a chance to brag about them to anyone who would listen.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lori L. Wright; children: Tobi (Aleesa) Wright, Troy Wright, Adam (Megan) Wright, all of Sioux City, Mona Wendzillo of Warrensburg, MO; grandchildren: Kelsey, Tyler (Kristen), Lily Wright, Austin and Autumn Wright and Michael and Shelby-Jo Wendzillo-Gracey; great grandchild: Brooklynd; siblings: George (Justine) Wright, Rosalie (Jim) Haines along with several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents: George and Lillian Wright; Siblings: Lillian Bernice and John Haines, Jim and Mary Wright; Father and Mother-n-law: Ron and Sharen Larson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to the Salvation of Army of Siouxland.
