Craig D. “Rocket” Chinn, age 51 , of Sioux City, Iowa died on Thursday morning September 15, 2011 at a Sioux City hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday September 20, 2011 at 10:30 am from St.Luke Lutheran Church in Sioux City with Rev. Kathy Wicks officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5-8 pm with the family present from 6-8pm and a prayer service held at 7:00 pm at the church. Waterbury Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Craig was born in Sioux City, Iowa on January 6, 1960, he attended Sioux City schools and graduated from East High School with the class of 1978.
He was married to Renee Bartz for twenty years and the couple later divorced. He worked as a mechanic for Frerichs Garage and also worked building motors for race cars. He enjoyed being the go to man at area race tracks for mechanical issues. He always would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed his assistance.
Craig is survived by his family which includes his special friend for the past nine years Tina Bauer and her daughter Hailey, his sons; Jonah Chinn and Josh Bartz both of Sioux City, his mother Dolores Chinn of Sioux City his two grandchildren Jenna and Joshua Bartz Jr. his brothers Jeff and Dennis(Sara) of LeMars,Iowa and his sister Dana Nelson of Hornick, along with many nieces, nephews, and many friends and co-workers.
Craig was preceded in death by his father George Chinn on September 25, 1995, and his brother-in-law Shorty Nelson.
