Conni Sue Peters of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2022, following a short illness. No Services will be held at this time. Conni was born July 12, 1958, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Laurine Elaine Harris and Roger Lewis Peters. She graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1976.
Conni began working in the horse insurance business in 1977 in her parents’ company, Roger Peters Livestock Insurer, Inc. She gradually became responsible for many aspects of the business, assuming full ownership of the company following her father’s death in 2010. Conni was known and respected across the United States through her involvement in the business and because of her dedication to her many customers across the country. She believed personal customer service was very important, often going above and beyond to assist a client with a problem. As other companies moved toward technology to replace the human customer service experience, Connie continued to do her work “the old-fashioned way,” believing that it allowed her to be more efficient and personal with her customers.
Conni sponsored a memorial horse show each summer, honoring her father’s memory for the Special Troopers Adaptive Riding School (STARS). She loved the healing benefits and emotional connection that the horses offered the riders. It brought her much joy to sponsor and attend these shows and she loved meeting and getting to know the participants. No one was a stranger to Conni, they were all friends. Being Conni’s friend was a very special gift; she loved unconditionally, spontaneously, and generously. Her laughter was contagious and unforgettable.
Conni set an example to those who knew her on how to make others feel important and loved. Her face reflected the love in her heart, God’s love. Conni accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 2016. Her faith became a foundation for hope during a severe health crisis the following year.
Conni is survived by her sister, Deb Peters of Sioux City, niece Stacy (Lynch) Atlas (Noah), great nieces, Ella and Ally Atlas, all of St. Louis Park, MN, nephew, Barret Lynch of Sioux City, Iowa, Lisa Peters, stepmother of Abilene, KS. She is also survived by loving relatives Wayne David, Brent David, Julie David, Olivia , Clare, and Benjamin David; Paul, Liz, and Luke David, Conni’s longtime friend, Jon Davis, as well as her beloved fur babies, Huckleberry, Haley, Mickey Mouse, Tika, and Coco.
She is preceded in death by former husband, Jim Brinkerhoff.
Conni’s desire would be for donations to be made to the Siouxland Humane Society and STARS Inc. in her memory. A Celebration of Life will be planned for the late spring.
