Colleen Ann Sweat, 78, of Sioux City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2016.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 30, 2016 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave.

Colleen was born on July 24, 1938 in Sioux City, the daughter of Elbert and Leota (Winn) Matthews. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City Schools, graduating from Central High School.

Colleen married Richard Gilbert on in June of 1958, to this union, three children were born, Mitchell, Linda, and Alan. Colleen was united in marriage to Clarence "Cal" Sweat on January 2, 1986.

Colleen enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her two sons, Mitchell (Cindy) Gilbert, and Alan Gilbert; daughter, Linda Gilbert; sisters, Judy (Ted) Blenderman and Marilou (Joe) Thomas; brother, Joe Matthews; stepson, Calvin Sweat and his girlfriend, Kyle; stepdaughters, Pam (Dickie) Landrum and Diana Sweat; many grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.

Colleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cal; her parents; and her sister-in-law, Dee Vee Matthews; and a stepson, Bill Sweat.
