Colleen P. Higgins, 91, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at her residence. Services will be held at 11:00 Friday, January 6, 2017 at Glendale Baptist Church. A visitation will be held on Thursday January 5, 2017 from 5-7 pm at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Colleen was born on March 30, 1925 in Sioux City to George and Ida (Lancrain) Cooley. She graduated from Central High School in 1943. Following high school, she worked at the Sioux City Battery Factory. She met and married Mark "Pete" Higgins in 1944, he passed away in 2010, after 66 years of marriage.

Colleen enjoyed cooking, sewing, babysitting, fishing, and gardening, she especially enjoyed her rose bushes. She was a longtime devoted member of Glendale Baptist Church. At the church, she was a member of the Ladies Aid and was very involved in the mother-daughter banquet every year. The most important part of Colleen's life was spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Mark (Anna) Higgins of Gillet Grove, IA, Judy Wiatrek of Sioux City, Lonnie (Arlene) Higgins of Colombia, MO, Robin (Deborah) Higgins of Montrose, CO, and Brian Higgins of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; 31great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mark "Pete"; two sisters, Eva Davies and Elvira Irwin; grandson Paul Farley; and great grandson, Taylor Farley.
