Obituary

Cletus Darwin Stinton, 79, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at his residence in Sergeant Bluff after a long illness.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 5200 Glenn Ave. Sioux City with Rev. Andy Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery prior to services at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 9, 5-8 p.m. at the church with family present from 6-8 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service. Cletus was born June 21, 1934, in Akron, Iowa, the son of Everett and Lillian (Heinz) Stinton. He graduated in 1952 from Akron High School. He was united in marriage with Margaret Prien on July 1, 1955 in Correctionville, Iowa The couple moved to Denver, Colorado in 1956 where he worked for Colorado Tractor. In 1958 the family moved to Le Mars where Cletus began working for the Le Mars Foundry. The family then moved to Sioux City in 1960 and he began work for Missouri Valley Machinery which later sold to Ziegler Cat. Cletus retired in 1996 following 38 years of employment.
Cletus and Margaret then moved to Sergeant Bluff in 2004. They enjoyed boating, camping and golfing. Cletus hobbies included building furniture. One of his prized works was a 5 piece Mission bedroom set he built. He also was Assistant Boy Scout Leader in Sergeant Bluff from 1974 to 1978. Cletus was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and Hawkeye Rifle and Pistol Club in Sioux City.

Cletus is survived by his spouse Margaret Stinton of Sergeant Bluff. His Son: Darwin and Susanne Stinton of Plymouth, MN. Daughters: Marchell and her husband Brent Taylor of Ottumwa, Iowa and Cindy and her husband Robert Grimm of Hornick, Iowa. Four Grandchildren: Dallas Grimm, Andrea Grimm, Benjamin Taylor and Samuel Stinton. Two Great Grandchildren Gabriel Grimm-Henze and Elijah Grimm-Henze.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lloyd and Dwaine Stinton and one sister, Marjorie Rozell.
