Obituary

Cleo “Chip” A. Pottorff Jr., 75, of Sioux City, IA, passed away March 17, 2025, at a local hospital.  Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Chip was born on June 26, 1949, in Sioux City, IA to Cleo, Sr. and Donna (Kudrle) Pottorff.  He graduated from East High School and was united in marriage to Diane Jones on December 19, 1970, in Sioux City, IA.  Chip worked as a foreman at T & W Tire for many years and later ran the Sergeant Bluff Hotel with his wife from 2008-2018.

He enjoyed camping, hunting, woodworking, carving, and cooking.  He was a devoted family man and took care of his wife throughout her illness.  Chip was a Mason and member of the Morningside Lodge, Scottish Rite, and was in the clown unit with Abu Bekr Shriners.  He was also a clown boss and president.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Diane Pottorff; sons: Tate (Brandie) Pottorff and Troy Pottorff; one grandchild: Abby Halterman.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Donna and her husband, and a sister, Darla and her husband Ragner Ausland.
