Obituary

Christine (Chris) Marie Schonrock, 63, of Sioux City, IA, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, surrounded by her family, who loved her deeply.  Funeral Services will be 11:00am Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave, with a visitation held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at 11:00am Friday, January 3, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery.  In honor of Christine's vibrant spirit, the family invites guests to wear their favorite beach or vacation t-shirt, or casual attire, as she always embraced a relaxed and joyful approach to life. Luncheon will follow the service at the funeral home.

Christine was born on January 1, 1961, in Sioux City, IA, to Lloyd and Betty (Ouelette) Schonrock. She graduated from Westwood High School in Fort Pierce, FL, in 1980.  Over the years, Chris worked at various Siouxland businesses, including Tony’s Pizza, Mid-American Energy, and Gateway.  In 2003, she earned her CNA License and poured her heart into the healthcare field, dedicating her life to helping others serving at Indian Hills Nursing Home, Mercy One, and most recently at Mid-Step Services.

Above all, Christine was a devoted and loving mother.  She poured her heart into raising her daughter, Heather and went above and beyond to ensure she and others had everything they needed. Known for her nurturing nature, Chris was not only a mother to her own child, but also to the friends of her daughter, always making sure they felt welcomed, loved, and supported.  Her home was a place of warmth and care for anyone who needed it.

Chris had a passion for decorating and celebrating holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas, bringing joy and light to every season.  Chris loved the simple pleasures in life, including camping, cook-outs, gardening, and fishing, but nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her family, creating lifelong memories. One of her greatest joys was traveling to the beach in Florida, where she felt a deep sense of peace.

Chris is survived by her daughter, Heather (Jeremy Cale) Schonrock; her beloved significant other, Christopher Sorensen; her sisters, Cheryl Schonrock and Ruth Schonrock; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Christine’s love and warmth will forever be remembered, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.  She was, without a doubt, the best mother ever and a second mother to so many. Her memory will be forever treasured.
