Charlotte A. Knudson, 84, of Sioux City, passed away, Monday, February 3, 2014 at a local hospital. Services will be held 10:30 am Friday, February 7, 2014 at Morningside Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Lo Van officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 with family present from 6-8 at Thursday, February 6, 2014 Waterbury Funeral Service. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery at a later date.
Charlotte was born on October 10, 1929, in Chisago City, Minnesota, the daughter of Eldor S. and Mildred (Peterson) Palmer. She graduated in 1947 from West High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota and then attended the University of Minnesota. Charlotte married Wm. Kieth Knudson on May 24, 1952 in Minneapolis. Together they moved to Sioux City in 1953; Kieth passed away on January 25, 1992.
Charlotte did extensive volunteer work at various places in Siouxland including St. Luke’s Hospital and Goodwill Industries. She enjoyed doing needlework and antiquing, in her later years, loved to read, and was very proud of her Swedish heritage. Charlotte also loved socializing with her Friday morning coffee club Charlotte was an active member of the Siouxland Antique Car Club, and Morningside Lutheran Church, where she was very active in the Church Women and served on the Synod Board.
Survivors include her sons Charles Knudson and his wife Michelle of Sioux City, and Knud Knudson and his wife Julie of Sioux City, brother Doug Palmer of Hopkins, MN, grandchildren Mindee Knudson and her special friend Wendy DeLaughter, Dr. Melissa Penny and her husband Dr. Devin Penny, Kelsey Anderson and her husband Nicholas Anderson, and Kieth Knudson, great-grandchildren Jade, Eden, and Treyson Penny, and Theodore Anderson, and many special nieces and nephews.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael, and two brothers.
