Charlotte M. Irish, 87 of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be held Friday, 11:00 am at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Gerald Bruhn, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, officiating. Visitation Thursday 4-8 pm, with the family present 5-7 pm at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. Online condolences may be sent to www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.
Charlotte was born on May 29, 1926 in Emerson, Nebraska, the daughter of John and Marie White. Charlotte met William Irish during WWII, and they were married on May 11, 1944 in San Francisco, California. After her husband’s discharge from the Navy, they made their home in Sioux City. During 1975 the family moved to Pipestone, Minnesota, and in the early 1980’s, to Huron, South Dakota and later for a short time, to Sioux Falls. When Bill retired, they moved back to Sioux City in 1992.
Charlotte was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening and singing in the church choir. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church.
Charlotte is survived by two sons, Mike Irish and his wife Sharon of Sioux City and Pat Irish of Sioux City; her daughter, Teresa Stenzel of Griswold, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother Bob and his wife Delphine White of Napa, California; and two sisters, Lavonne Peterson of Lexington, Nebraska and Sharon Hamilton of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William in 2007; and one brother, Richard White.
