Charles L. Stewart, 74, of Sioux City, Iowa passed on January 4, 2016 in Goodyear, Arizona.
Services will be at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux City, Iowa on Saturday January 16th, 2016. Visitation at 9:00 am, service to begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Shorey officiating and lunch to follow.
He is the son of Gerald Stewart and Betty (Luke) Wettermark. Chuck spent his days growing up loving life, playing drums in a band and meeting the love of his life, Merry, as a junior in high school. Chuck and Merry were later married on January 27, 1962. Chuck worked in sales, owned and managed Munroe’s at the Normandy and lastly retired from State security at the 185th Air National Guard. Chuck served 17 years in the Army Reserves as a 1st Sergeant and retired from the 185th Air National Guard totaling 29 years of service.
Chuck and Merry made a home and raised their family in Sioux City, Iowa. During their 53 wonderful years of marriage they had two daughters; Jill Stewart of Sioux City, Iowa and AmyLynn (Stewart) Bodensteiner of Grinnell, Iowa. Chuck found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and being a part of their lives.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Merry Stewart, and two daughters Jill Stewart and AmyLynn (Steve) Bodensteiner; sisters, Conny (Mike) Sheil and Florence Ann Lamphear; brother in law, Steve (SuzAnn) Jansen; grandchildren, Adonnis Stewart, Trae (Kristi) Bodensteiner, Payton (Eric) Eicher, Benjamin Kline and Kuennen Bodensteiner; great grandchildren, Oliver Bodensteiner, Alice and Cora Eicher; nieces and nephews, Shannon and Brendan Sheil, Stephanie (Jason) Marvelli, Jenna and Josee Jansen and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Faith Lutheran Church and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. A private burial will be held at a later date.
