Charlene Elizabeth “Char” Kelly, 84, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away from ovarian cancer, surrounded by her family on November 19, 2024. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Services of Sioux City.
Char was born on January 30, 1940, to Charles D. “Boy” and Antoinette M. “Toni” (Marino) Blair. She attended Sioux City Schools and ended her education at South Sioux City High School. On October 12, 1957, Char married Raymond J. “Ray” Jungwirth, raising four children in Sioux City, Iowa and in Austin, Minnesota. On October 25, 1985, she married Larry P. Kelly, adding three more daughters to the family.
Char worked at Johnson Biscuit Company (currently Interbank Foods) and Iowa Beef Processors (currently Tyson Fresh Meats), retiring in 1988 to become a housewife.
Char loved to sing so much that her dad nicknamed her Lark after the bird known for its enchanting songs. She also enjoyed dancing, shopping, playing cards, watching old movies, and spending time with her grandchildren, and her dogs.
Those left to honor her memory are her seven children, Tracy Prichard, Lorrie Bohlmann and Mark Tucker of Sioux City, IA, Danny and Rhonda Jungwirth of Lyons, NE, Amanda and Chad Sorensen of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Annette Kelly-Agee, Wendy and Darin (Kelly) Jessip of Sioux Falls, SD, and Stacy Kelly Niemeyer of Tontitown, AR, sixteen grandchildren, Trevor and Erick Prichard, Kristi Jungwirth Fickbohm, Raymond, Charlie, and William Jungwirth, Elizabeth Bohlmann, Noah, Adden, and Emersen Sorensen, Jessi and Nicole Verbeski, Sydney and Kendall Jessip, Hannah and Ben Niemeyer, 15 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Pearl and Wayne Massey of Lebanon, IN, and Shirley Rowe of Sergeant Bluff, IA, two brothers, Gary and Judy Mae Blair of Allen, NE, and Larry and Kathy Blair of Sergeant Bluff, IA, sister-in law, Marsha Kelly of Sioux City, IA, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her dogs, Buddy and Dolly.
She was preceded in death her parents, husband, Larry Kelly, son-in law, Rick Prichard and first husband, Raymond Jungwirth.
