Catherine “Cathy” Hockney-Kovach, 52, of Sioux City, IA, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, following a lengthy and courageous battle with a variety of renal related health issues. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 PM.

Cathy was born in Vallejo, CA on March 6, 1972, to Frank and Patsy (McFarling) Hockney. She was raised in and graduated from high school in Vallejo, CA. It was there that she met her first husband David Becker. The two were united in marriage on August 2,1992. They then moved to Sioux City, IA and soon after made their home in Hinton, IA where they raised their three boys, Jimmy, Nicholas and Dalton. After their dissolution of marriage, they remained best friends and business partners. Later she met Mark Kovach in August of 2015 in Sioux City, IA. Mark and Cathy then were united in marriage on April 27, 2024. He stayed by her side until her very last day.

Cathy valued family. Her family was her world. She fought bravely and beautifully for her sons and grandchildren. Her motivation, courage, and drive will be forever unmatched. Her passion was cooking and baking for her family, bringing the pure form of her love to the table for everyone to enjoy. She loved gardening and having her grandkids help her plant gorgeous flowers each Spring. She was admired by all for her candor, intelligence, and acceptance.  Whoever was blessed enough to meet Cathy, knew they were “a part of her family.” Her warm smile and welcoming hug will be missed by all.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Mark Kovach of Sioux City, IA; best friend and business partner, David Becker; sons: Jimmy (Amanda), Nicholas (Sarah), and Dalton; grandchildren: Andrew, Harmony, Gavin, Aspen, Evelyn, Edyn, Colson; and siblings: Tina and Ray.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jack.
