Carroll G. “Red” McElhose, age 76, of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday March 25, 2014 at Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center in Correctionville, Iowa
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday March 29, 2014 at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sgt. Bluff, with Pastor Dan Lozier officiating. Mr, McElhose will be cremated following the service and inurnment will be in Logan Park Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Saturday 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Red was born in Venus, Nebraska on May 19, 1937, the son of John and Adeline “Grosse” McElhose. He grew up and was raised in Creighton. He was united in marriage with Joyce Dowty, Joyce passed away in 1985. He married Patricia Anderson on May 5, 2001 in Sioux City.
Red was employed in Food and Grocery for over forty years working in Minnesota and South Dakota. He retired from Cohn Wholesale Foods in 2002.
Red loved to fish and hunt, playing slots, walking his dogs and riding his bicycle. He was a dedicated loyal worker and loved his family.
He is survived by his wife Patricia of Sioux City, his sons: Robert(Theo) of Hinton, Loren of Des Moines, his daughter Lori (Jerry) Kamardt of Sioux City, and his step-son Dan(Nova)Kamardt of Sioux City. Red is also survived by his brother Bruce of North Chicago, Illinois, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Joyce, a sister Marcelene Luhr, and two brothers: Marvin, and Alvin.
The family has requested memorials in Carroll’s name be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
