Obituary
Carrie Dee (Burris) Franklin, 43 of Ontario, California, formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, died Friday, June 24, 2016 in Huntsville, Alabama. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.
A memorial service will be held 6:30 pm Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Waterbury Funeral Service, 400 4th Street, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Carrie Dee (Burris) Franklin was born August 28, 1972, the daughter of Eldon and Gloria Burris. She graduated from East High School in 1991. Carrie had a beautiful voice that she displayed in swing choir and plays at East High School. Her choir group was honored to be invited to sing at the famous Carnegie Hall in New York City. She also sang at several of her friends and her sister’s weddings. She went on to graduate from Morningside College in 1997 with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree, majoring in English and History and minoring in Education. Carrie married Steve Franklin on June 10, 1992. They later divorced. She married Jonathan Caustrita on January 6, 2001. They later divorced.
She taught at several Southern California schools and at Rowlett High School in Richardson, TX. She received many compliments from grateful parents whose children’s lives she transformed through her excellent teaching and her obvious care and concern for their children. She was also a successful Internet Research Writer.
Carrie is survived by her mother Gloria Burris of Ontario, CA, her son Stephen Franklin III of Rogers, AR, her daughter Savannah Caustrita of Richardson, TX, two sisters Lisa (Chris) Ciccarelli and their children Ally and Spencer of Torrance, CA, Lori (Daniel) Van Beek and their children Griffin and Ethan of Chino, CA, her grandmother Paula Wagner of Salix, IA, her Aunts and Uncles: Paul and Carmen Wagner, Salix, IA; Dr. Wally and Connie Wagner, Sioux City, IA; Jim and Judy Wagner, Camden, TN; Bev and Shorty McNamara, Winnemucca, NV.
She is preceded in death by her father Eldon Burris, her brother Mark Burris and her grandparents Wallace Wagner, Ethel and Vern Burris and her cousin, Jimmy Wagner.
