Carolyn J. Johns, 77, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at a local hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship Community Church in Sergeant Bluff. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
Carolyn was born on Aug. 25, 1936, in Sioux City, the daughter of Harry and Sadie (Norton) Turner. Carolyn attended Sioux City Schools.
She married Charles C. Johns on Dec. 18, 1954. He passed away on April 28, 2005. Carolyn was a homemaker, but had a part-time job cleaning offices at the Army, Navy, and Marines Recruiting Offices.
She enjoyed crocheting, bingo, going to the casino to play the slot machines, and playing cards with her grandkids.
Survivors include her children, Jamie Youngstrom and her husband, Randall of Sioux City, Pamela Peters and her husband, Todd of Sergeant Bluff, Charles E. Johns of Sioux City, and Shelley Conkey of Sioux City; sister, Alberta Gottburg and her husband, Richard of Sioux City; grandchildren, Brandon Youngstrom, Troy Youngstrom and his wife, Kimberly, Torie and Clinton Conkey, all of Sioux City, and Devin, Kayla, and Megan Peters of Sergeant Bluff; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
