Carol Lynn Streeter
Carol Lynn Streeter, age 64, of Sioux City died Sunday March 18, 2012 at a local hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday March 22, 2012 at 1:00pm from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sioux City with Father Craig Collison officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8pm with the family present from 6-8 and a vigil service held at 7:00pm at the church. Carol was born on October 7, 1947 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Rodney L and Bonnie Rae (Blom) Osburn. Carol attended Sioux City Schools and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1965. She then attended St.Vincent’s School of Nursing graduating in 1966.
Carol was united in marriage with John Streeter on April 8, 1967 at St. Jeans Parish in Sioux City; this union was blessed with three children.
Carol began being interested in health care at the age of 12 when she began her career as a Candy Striper at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Following her graduation from nursing school, she began a career that took her to St. Vincent’s Hospital and Mercy Medical Center in the OB/GYN departments. She then began private duty nursing for a several years, then most recently served in the Community Education Department at Mercy Medical Center.
Carol was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she took an avid role in many activities. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who touched many lives during her lifetime. She took great pride in her grandchildren’s accomplishments and enjoyed attending all of their sporting events. She enjoyed Christmas and buying gifts for her family.
She enjoyed crocheting, and baking and cooking for her family and friends.
She will be missed by her family which includes her husband John of Sioux City, her parents, Rodney and Bonnie Osburn of Sioux City, her son Rod Streeter and his wife Tanya of Clarksville, Tennessee, her daughters Gina Dam and her husband Craig, of McCook Lake, South Dakota and Joni Walding and her husband Jason of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. She is also survived by her brother Mark Osburn and his wife Kelly of Sioux City, and her sister Cathy Fox and her husband Rick of Sioux City along with her eight wonderful grandchildren: T.J. , Brady, and Katie Dam, Ryan, Ellie, and Tessa Streeter, Mollie and Jaxon Walding. Her beloved dog Jaycee.
She was preceded in death by her in-laws Charles and Laura Streeter, brother-in-law Richard Culbertson, and a nephew Scott Culbertson.
