Carol Jean Chase, 72 of Sioux City, died Sunday, October 15, 2017 at her home. Memorial Service will be held 10:30 am Friday, October 20, 2017 at Waterbury Funeral Service, 4125 Orleans Ave. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Carol was born on February 13, 1945 in Mitchell, South Dakota the daughter of Jesse McCabe. She attended school in Mitchell and later graduated from USD with her teaching degree in English. Carol taught in Spearfish, South Shore, Winner, and Yankton. In 1983 she went to the University of Iowa to obtain her Law Degree. She was an assistant district Attorney for Woodbury County during the early 1990’s, then since the mid’90’s became the Executive Director of Children’s First. She was also very instrumental in setting state wide laws for divorce cases where children are involved.

She is survived by her two sons; Daniel Chase of Hamilton, MI., and Richard Thompson of Hayward, CA., two daughters; Sandra (Pete) Leiferman of Panora, IA, and Susie (Chris) Olson of Dawson, MN., and eight grandchildren; Kayla Chase, Levi Leiferman, Chase Olson, Lucus Leiferman, Tyson Olson, Brook Olson Jacob Chase, Jayden Chase.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Daryl McCabe, and two sisters Maxine and Ardis.
