Obituary

Carol J. Bremmer, 72, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Monday October 9, 2023, at a local care facility. She was surrounded by her family and friends. Services will be held at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall at 2pm Saturday, October 21, 2023, 3713 Green Ave. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff. Please wear purple if you are able as it was her favorite color. There will be a luncheon to follow at 310 South Martha Street.

Carol Jean Bremmer (Cook) was born Thursday, August 16, 1951, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas to Roy and Helen (Henkel) Cook. She graduated Central High School in 1969. Her hobbies were coloring, paint by number and reading religious literature.

Carol’s religion has always been a huge part of her life. Even when she wasn’t directly on track, she never lost sight of Jehovah’s light. She was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness on July 7th, 2018, and began to teach others the truth while in the nursing home. Holding bible studies with other residents and making lifelong friends.

She worked as everyone’s favorite waitress at many establishments in the area. She retired when it was time to be a live-in grandmother. Carol moved in with her daughter for many years to help raise her grandchildren. They had a bond that was undeniable, and everybody was safe in grandma’s presence. She was called mom and grandma by way more than her own. Carol had this special touch that people just gravitated towards. Her humor and quick-witted personality were by far most memorable. There was nothing you could say to her even with age that she wouldn’t have a humorous reply to.

Carol was always the go-to person without having to be asked. Even when she didn’t have it to give, she would. “Buzzing” around in her wheelchair making sure the other residents had what they needed before enjoying her own meal. Carol’s giving: loving, honest soul was her most precious asset. She will be remembered for her smart mouth, opinionated attitude, not afraid of anything self. As well as her loving heart, sensitive nature and the love she had for her people.  She will forever be cherished and missed.

Carol is survived by her children; Denny (Sue) Bremmer, Balam Cook, and Tiffany (Justin) Witt; siblings; Ron (Sue) Cook, and Sharlyn (Bill) Franco, grandchildren; Megan, Heather, Jacob, Mackenzie, Bristol, Donnie, Amaya, Donavin and Tre, six great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers.
