Carol J. Bearshield, (Tatanka Ob Mani Was-te Win) 76 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Friday, November 7, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family. Services will be held 11: 00am Tuesday, November 11 at the Sioux City Community of Christ, 3232 Transit Avenue. Burial will in Santee Sioux Nation Congregational Cemetery. Visitation will begin 7:00pm, Monday, November 10, 2025 at the Church.

Carol was born September 23, 1949 in Winnebago, Nebraska the daughter of William and Maxine (Saul) Wilson-Wabasha. She attended school at St. Augustine, St. Mary’s, and Crow Creek Tribal School in Stephan, South Dakota where Carol graduated from. She met Danny Bearshield at the age of 15, and married the following year. In this union they were blessed with five children; Damien Joseph, Daniel Joseph, Anna Lisa, Amanda Collette, and Leon Dean.

She worked at many different jobs including: IBP, Packfab, John Morell, and WinnaVegas, where she retired from. When she was working at IBP she met Gustavo Nunez and Camilla Rae, Natalie Grace Carla Ofelia, Pedro Gustavo were born.

Carol is survived by her 9 children: Damien: Lisa Flandreau SD, Daniel, Sioux City IA, Anna Lisa: Sioux City, Amanda, Omaha NE, Leon, Sioux City, IA, Camilla: Jeremy, Sioux City, IA, Natalie: Jim, Aliance, NE, Carla:Kory, Manderson, SD and Pedro, Sioux City, IA.

Her siblings Brenda Wabasha, Santee NE, Elroy Wabasha, Omaha NE, Theresa Wabasha, Sioux City, IA

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Wabasha, Maxine Saul-Wabasha, her siblings Billy, Bobby, Gary, Dennis, and Mary, grandchildren Angelica and Angel Alcaraz, great granddaughter Amara Nicole Dodge.
