Candelario Rodriguez Turrubiarte, 89 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at a local hospital. Services will be held 10:00am Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Cathedral of the Epiphany. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm with a prayer service at 7pm Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.  Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery.

Candelario was born on February 2, 1935 in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, the son of Feliz Rodríguez and Juana Turrubiarte. Candelario came to the United States in 1951 at the age of 16. He arrived in Del Rio, Texas. In 1990 he moved to Sioux City, Iowa where he worked for Tyson Foods until his retirement.

He was united in marriage to Maria Villanueva Orellana for more than 25 years. He enjoyed working, cooking outside with his family, volunteering in the community, and helping anyone in need. Candelario loved spending time with his grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart and giving them special gifts.

Candelario lost his parents at the age of 7. He lived with several relatives until he migrated to the United States. He was a very humble man with a big heart who will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife Maria, daughters Juana Maria Rodriquez, Santa Adorasion Rodriguez, Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez, Sofia Rodriguez and Sandra Galvez. His brother Jose Rodriguez Turrubiarte and sisters Flora and Guadalupe Rodriguez Turrubiarte. His son in law, Rafael Gálvez, whom he loved as if he were his son. His grandchildren, Nancy Villanueva, Christian, Matheo Galvez and many more grandchildren and relatives.
