Bruce H. Turner, 87 of Moville, passed silently into God’s arms through the grace of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at his residence.
Burial and private family service was held 2 pm Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in Fairfield Cemetery, Rock Branch, Iowa. Arrangements were under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com
Bruce was born on January 11, 1926 in Moville, Iowa, the son of WR and Jennie (Forkner) Turner. He was born and always lived in the same house, except for his military service in the US Navy during WWII.
Bruce attended country school and graduated from the Climbing Hill High School. He attended and celebrated his 70th year class reunion on June 29th.
Bruce enlisted in the Navy and was involved with the V-12 program in Minot, North Dakota and later at the University of Minnesota. He also served in the Great Lakes area.
Bruce was untied in marriage to Evelyn Sadler on March 3, 1953 in Miami, Florida. The couple made their home in Moville. He farmed and raised cattle. He enjoyed four wheeling, bobcatting and tractors. Bruce commercially scattered fertilizer in Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa.
Bruce is survived by two sons, Morris (Ray) of Harlingen, Texas and Doyle (Leigh) of Moville; four daughters, Lynette Turner of Anchorage, Alaska, Naomi (Robert) Harding of Wray, Colorado, Dr. Marita Turner of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa and Iola Cox of Maitland, Florida; 13 grandchildren, Tim, Tatiana, Christopher, Chase, Grant, Delaney, Pierce and Avery Turner, Shamariah and Nathanael Harding and Christopher, Caleb and Joshua Cox.
He was preceded in death by his parents, all his brothers and sisters, his beloved wife of 47 years, Evelyn (would have been longer, but they courted too long) and one grandson, Martin Turner.
