Brian Keith Rubis, 65, of Sioux City, IA, passed away at home surrounded by his family on January 22, 2024.  A funeral service will be held Friday, January 26th at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City in Morningside.  A private, family burial will be at Floyd Cemetery.

Brian was born on February 20, 1958 in Sioux City, IA to Loren and Elaine (Beeman) Rubis.  He graduated from East High School in 1977 and then received his associates degree in Police Science Technology from Western Iowa Tech.  He was united in marriage to Anita Jepsen on Oct 2, 1982.  Brian worked various jobs in his life until he had his first stroke in 2012.

Brian's passion was playing drums, for which he had a natural talent.  He loved music of all genres, but mostly rock 'n roll.  He was very creative and had a very imaginative mind.  He was very quick-witted and could bring a smile to anyone's face or have them shaking their head--he loved working with wood and on the many vehicles he owned, both mechanical and body work.  He loved being outside...during the summer you could find him watering the lawn after dark.  He took pride in his yard.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family...camping, riding bikes, playing mini golf or going to movies, to name a few.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Anita Rubis; sons: David (Heather) Rubis and Austin Rubis; father, Loren Rubis; brother, Lawrence P. Rubis; and sister, Susan (Stanley) Hoesing

He is preceded in death by his mother, Elaine Rubis; Uncle Ron Rubis and his grandparents.

The family would like to thank Synergy Homecare for their services during the last few years, Hospice of the Midwest for their awesome care, Dr Bryce Robison for his many years of care, who always managed to see Brian's true personality no matter how he was feeling and Dr Joseph Nahas who is the most caring physician we've ever met for his years of care with Brian's RA.
