Bobby Joe Thompson Sr., 62, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on October 18, 2024. A celebration of his life will be held 11:00am Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Abundant Life Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Bobby was born on July 23, 1962, in Manning, Louisiana to Jim and Ella (Heibel) Thompson. He was united in marriage to Wendy Rydstrom in 2007.  Bobby worked as a forklift operator for several places throughout Siouxland. He enjoyed playing darts, hanging out with friends and family, watching old westerns and football (especially the San Francisco 49ers.)

Those left to honor his memory include his son, Bobby Joe Thompson Jr., ex-wife, Wendy Thompson; grandchildren: John and Jessi Thompson, and Madison Witzke; siblings: Ron Thompson, Alfred (Stephanie) Taylor, Bonnie (Rick) Knutson, Sharon Ibarra, Randy Thompson; aunt, Kathy Heibel; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ella; stepfather, Alfred Taylor; brother, Roger Thompson; sister, Brenda Taylor; sister-in-law, Tammy Thompson; Heibel Grandparents: Fred and Alma Heibel; aunt, Shirley See and uncle, Edgar See; aunt, Hattie Heibel and uncle, Phillip Heibel.
