Billy Francis Palmer, age 78, of Sioux City died Saturday November 27, 2010 surrounded by his loving family at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday December 3, 2010 at Glad Tidings Lighthouse Church in South Sioux City with Rev. Michael Ring, pastor officiating. Mr. Palmer will be cremated following the funeral service. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4-8 pm with the family present from 6-8 at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. Billy was born November 21, 1932 in South Sioux City the son of Carl E. and Alma R ( Tippery) Palmer. He was a lifelong resident of the Sioux City area. He was united in marriage with Florence Mann on October 16 of 2010.
Billy was a truck driver for several different companies for more than 60 years, he traveled all fifty states.
Billy was a special person who never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed tinkering with any mechanical item especially on his land. He was a lover of pets, especially his friends, Morgan, Tigger, Pepper, and Spike, as well as providing the neighborhood dogs Shockey, Baby, and Buddy with special treats.
Billy will be missed by his family which includes his wife Florence, his sons Rich Mann(Lori) of Indianapolis, IN.; Jeff Mann(Patty) of Sioux City, Mark Mann(Stephanie Orozco) of Neligh, NE.; Scott Mann(Michelle Risdel) of Sioux City, Carl Palmer(Nancy) of Fargo, N.D.; Billy Palmer Jr. of Brandon S.D.; his four daughters Pam Heathershaw(Ken) of Sioux City, Cheryl Brick(Jeff) of Sioux City, Diane Ziegenbeir(Bill) of Royal, NE.; and Alma Reichert(Adrien) of Billings, MT. He is also survived by his half brother Rick Palmer, his two step-brothers Stanley Ring and Donny Ring, two step-sisters Omadean Rogers, and JoAnne Anderson, and sister-in-law Mary Palmer, Billy is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his special family friends Peggy Skelton and Bill Westoff along with several neices and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Truth Palmer, three brothers, one step sister and one grandchild. Billy was also preceded in death by his special friend Clarence Tenborg.
