Beverly J. Harris, 83 of Sioux City died Friday, July 25, 2014 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, July 28, 2014 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue, with Rev. Lilette Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 4-8 pm at the funeral home, with the family present 6-8 pm.
Beverly was born on October 14, 1930 in rural Winnebago, Nebraska, the daughter of John and Gladys (Van Houten) Nieman. She graduated from Central High School mid-term with the class of 1948. On June 29, 1951 in Sioux City, Beverly was united in marriage to Roger Harris.
Beverly worked as a waitress in the area for many years, and worked lastly with the Sioux City School District as a Bus Assistant. Beverly was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church until it’s closing, and currently a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church. She is a former member of the Sunshine League.
She is survived by her 5 sons, Milan of Belton, Missouri, Nolan (Jane) of Holstein, Verlan (Cindy) of Texas, Harlan and his special friend Tammy Wendte of Sioux City and Milton of Sioux City; 2 daughters, Twila (Dennis) Riessen of Sioux City and Wanda Hernandez and her special friend Joey Babcock of Sioux City; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Elmer Nieman of Homer, Nebraska, Merle Nieman of Winnebago, Nebraska and Chester Nieman of Dakota City, Nebraska; and one sister, Bernice Gesch of Amarillo, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roger, parents, 1 stillborn infant, 1 granddaughter, Alana Richards, 4 brothers, John Jr. Nieman, Babe Nieman, Marvin Nieman and Albert Nieman.
