Betty Lou Oliver, 74, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at a local hospital. Services will be held 10:00 am, Monday, July 20, 2015 at Riverside Lutheran Church will Rev. Tim Squier officiating. A visitation will be 2:00 to 6:00 pm with family present from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Betty was born on November 30, 1940 in Marcus, Iowa, the daughter of M.A. and Alma (Flisher) Van Dam. Betty married Larry Oliver on July 8, 1959. Some of her hobbies were gardening, bingo, crocheting baking, camping, and fishing. Betty also collected salt and pepper shakers and angels. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children: Floyd Oliver and his wife Rhonda of Sioux City, Richard D. Oliver of Sioux City, Terry Lee Oliver of Sioux City, Roxanne Sue and her husband Dave Beechy of Onawa, and Jim A. Oliver and his friend Tammy Austad of Elk Point, brothers: Nick Van Dam and his wife Theresa and John Van Dam and his wife Mary, both of Remsen, IA, sisters: Ann and her husband Mike Tentinger of Remsen, IA, Barb and her husband Bruce Ludwig of Lemars, IA, and Nina Van Dam of Cherokee, IA, 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry, son Brian Oliver, sister Pat Stofferan, sister-in-law Caroline Murphy, and grandson Chad Oliver.
