Barbara M. Minter, 92 of Freeman, South Dakota, formerly of South Sioux City, died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at a care facility in Freeman.

Memorial service will be held 11:00 am December 2, 2016 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Burial will be in Elk Point Cemetery on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1:00pm.

Barbara was born on October 3, 1924 in Hawarden, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Baumler) Giberson. Barbara attended school in Elk Point.

Barbara married Nick Trudeau in October of 1946. He was killed in a train-truck accident in January of 1949. She later married Ernest Minter. Ernie died in 1983. Barbara had worked at the Johnson Biscuit Company as a young girl in Sioux City, and later for the Iowa Beef Packers, retiring in 1990. She worked part time at the Flamingo Inn in South Sioux City until retiring again in 2004.

Barbara was a hard working independent woman that loved to dance and listen to country western music. She loved working in her yard and especially growing roses. Barbara loved animals in general but especially cats and feed every stray cat that came around.

Barbara is survived by her son, Larry (Roberta) Minter of Jefferson; three daughters Marlene (Darrell) Stinger of Harrisburg, Pam (John) Mcquillen, Cindy Nimmer, both of South Sioux City; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Freddie Minter, a grandson, Brandon Minter, her brothers; Alphonse Giberson, Raymond Giberson, Linus (Butch) Giberson, her sisters; Vera Eslick, Marie Giberson, and Esther Giberson.
