Barbara W. James, age 59, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday evening September 7, 2011 at a local hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday September 12, 2011 at 11:00am from St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City with Father Gerald Feierfeil serving as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-8 pm with the family present at 6:00pm and a vigil service held at 7:00pm at the church. Barbara was born in Sioux City, Iowa on March 21. 1952, the daughter of Richard and Barbara (Grillet) Connin. She was united in marriage with Robert James Sr. in 1967 and the couple divorced in 1978.
Barb worked as a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn for a few years, but most recently served as a child care provider until her health forced her retirement. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Barb enjoyed spending time with her family, R&B music, dancing, and loved to shop.
Barb will be missed by her family which includes her sons Robert James and his wife Jessie, Victor James, and Tom Huisman and his fiancée Misty all of Sioux City, her daughters, Candy James of Sioux City, Barb Brunick and her husband Todd of Sioux Falls, S.D., Lorrie James and Sharon Huisman and her fiancé Armanda Barker Sr, of Sioux City. She is also survived by her mother Barbara Connin of Sioux City, brother Richard Connin of Sioux City, her twin sister Beverly Perry of Sioux City, her sisters Mary Kramer of Thurston NE., Virginia Martinez of Sioux City and Charlene McCoy of Yankton, S.D. Barb also is survived by her 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and her special cousin Anne Greiner.
