Barbara A. Cowell, 81, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023 at a local nursing home with family by her side. A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Kingdom Hall, 3713 Green Ave, Sioux City, IA.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Barbara Anne Cowell was born Thursday, February 5, 1942, in Austin, Minnesota to Jefferson and Dorothy (Glenn) Broady.

Growing up on a farm outside Brownville, NE, Barbara's love of horses started at a young age. She was a talented artist, in both drawing and painting, and enjoyed both as long as her health allowed. Her family and friends enjoyed her quirky personality and style. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She became one of Jehovah's Witnesses on December 19, 1961 and engaged in the ministry full time for many years, helping others come to an accurate knowledge of the Bible.

Barbara is survived by her children Paul (Brenda) Cowell, Larry Cowell, Michael (Sirpa) Cowell, Kevin (Cecilia) Cowell, and Jennifer (Rocky) Sander; seventeen grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren; a sister Virginia (Rod) Broady; and a brother Steve (Cathy) Broady.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Lee Cowell; her parents; a brother, Jefferson G Broady; and a daughter-in-law Pam Cowell.
