Artis J. Ferguson, 83, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab in Sergeant Bluff. Services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, July 3, 2017 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Artis was born on January 2, 1934 in Sioux City to Mr. Herman and Mary (Rozell) Moss. She attended grade school and graduated from Central High School in 1950. Following high school, Artis attended two years of schooling at the National Business Training School (NBT).
Artis was united in marriage to Richard W. Ferguson on September 4, 1953. Remaining in Sioux City, she was employed with New York Life Insurance Company, North Western Insurance Adjusters, and Siouxland Regional Housing where she was the director for 29 years. Artis completed additional training at the Vale National Training Center in Chamberburg, PA.
Artis was a member and past president of Iowana Chapter American Business Womens Association (ABWA), member of Professional Womens Group, Sioux Valley Kennel Club, Siouxland Humane Society, ABU Bekr Shrine, Daughters of the Nile Shrine Clownettes, Sioux City Garden Club where she was classified as a master gardener. Artis was an active member of the Morningside Grace United Methodist Church and was on their Board of Trustees for several years.
Artis loved her flowers, yard work, showing her dogs with her husband all over the country, traveling, and going on cruises.
Left behind to remember her is her husband, Richard (Fergie); daughter by heart, Bobbi (Matt) Kruse and their two boys, Jaycin and Jonathan; brother in law Jerry (Sharon) Ferguson; several cousins; and special friends, Jenny Herrick, Ellen Schmidt, Shay Gebauer, and Fern Herbest.
Artis was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Moss; parent in laws, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Ferguson; sister in law, JoAnn Glegerso, and her aunts and uncles.
