Arthur "Art" Lyman, 91, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at a local hospital. Services will be held 2:00 pm. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
Art was born on March 1, 1924 in Melvin, Iowa, the son of Jesse and Pearl (Linder) Lyman. Art was in the United States Army during WWI. After returning home, he met and married June Lumby from Sanborn, Iowa. Together they moved to Sioux City in 1949, where they raised their seven children.
Art was employed by the Sioux City Board of Education as a maintenance man. He was an avid gardener and loved spending time outdoors. He had a love for sports; his favorite teams were the Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Vikings and the Denver Broncos. He would watch them all while laying in his favorite spot on the couch. In 1999, Art asked for his lovely brides hand in marriage, again. On their 50th wedding anniversary, June and Art renewed their vows.
Survivors include his wife, June of 66 years, sister Mildred Ebel of Spencer, son Randy and Tracy Lyman and their children Marc and Alex, daughter Vicki Beers and her children Kristy, Cory, and Eric, daughter Sandra and Neal Nesbitt and their children Erin and Nick, son Steve and Shirley Lyman and their children Tricia, David, and Bryan, daughter Jacki and Dan Hansen and their children Jami and Travis, and two other grandchildren Angela and Dennis, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Clara, and two sons Denny and Rick.
