Armada "Ada" Grasma, 93 of Sioux City, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at a local care facility after a lingering illness.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be one hour prior to time of service at the funeral home.
Ada was born January 15, 1923 in Little Sioux, Iowa to Charles and Ruth (Blunt) Alton. She attended school in Little Sioux.
She met Clarence Grasma in 1938 while he was working for the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) in Moorhead, Iowa. She married Clarence on March 14, 1939. They made their home in Sioux City for many years.
Ada worked at a camera shop in Onawa, Iowa for many years where she learned the skills necessary to manage the Elko Camera Shop in Sioux during the early 1960’s. She later, worked at various area businesses including Zenith.
Ada was a library volunteer for the Sioux City Elementary School System where she read to children, she also was a volunteer with the Sioux City Police Blue Angels working with women who had needs with loneliness issues. She was an avid volunteer for the Sioux City Humane Society for many years, Ada loved animals. She was a lifelong member of the Riverside United Methodist Church in Sioux City.
She is survived by her son, Gary of Dakota Dunes; one brother, Eugene Alton of Omaha, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Scott Grasma, Keri Leopold, Chad Grasma, Lance Grasma; and six great-grandchildren.
Armada was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sons, Ronald and Donald; and one sister, Janice Smith.
Memorials may be made in Armada's name to Hospice of Siouxland.
