Arlene Jane Achenbach, 78, of Sergeant Bluff, passed away in true Arlene fashion, on her birthday, Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at a local hospital.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Shephard of Peace Lutheran Church in Sergeant Bluff.
Arlene was born on Sept. 10, 1940 in South Dakota, the daughter of Rueben and Olga Rembold. She had a younger brother Norman.
Arlene married and later divorced Allan Achenbach. After this union, she moved to Sioux City and later to Sergeant Bluff where she raised her daughter Robin and made many lifelong friends. Arlene was a very hard worker. She was employed at Smurfit Stone Container for 33 years and MCI until her retirement.
Arlene lived her life as a strong, independent and glamorous person. She enjoyed hanging out at the Merle Norman and the Younkers make-up counters visiting with the ladies. Arlene enjoyed spending time with her many friends, going out to eat, watching sports and listening to country music.
She is survived by her only child, Robin (Jay) Niday, her granddaughter Kennedy Colvert and grandson Brayden Bumsted.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Norman and her beloved dog Tuffy.
