Anne F. Morrison, 85 of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at a local care facility. Services will be held 11:00 am March 31 at the Community United Methodist Church in Sergeant Bluff. Burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.

Anne was born February 21, 1938, in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Dr. Lloyd and Frances (Hood) Fymbo. She graduated from Sergeant Bluff High School in 1956. Anne continued her education, majoring in Art and minoring in Home Economics at Wayne State and ultimately graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in 1960. Anne married her high school sweetheart Bruce Morrison on June 26, 1960, at the Community United Methodist Church in Sergeant Bluff. Together they had four children, Jeffrey Alan, Gregory Bruce, Laura Anne, and Jay Edward. Anne and Bruce honeymooned in Colorado, and in 2010 they returned on their 50 ^th wedding anniversary.

In 1977 Anne and her husband Bruce decided to open Morrison Printing Company in Sergeant Bluff to do commercial printing. Anne was in charge of keeping the books and running the office.  A little while later they saw the need in the community for a local newspaper and began publishing the Sergeant Bluff Advocate on September 14, 1978. Anne added reporter and chief proofreader to her list of duties. Anne and Bruce were inseparable working side by side for 26 years before selling the advocate and retiring in 2003.

Anne showed her love and talent for art every chance she got.  She loved dying Easter Eggs with her children and grandchildren, often using crayons and masking tape in addition to traditional dyes.  She was a talented seamstress and also loved making beautiful handmade cards to commemorate special events.

Anne was a lifelong resident of Sergeant Bluff and showed her love for her community by volunteering at many school, church, and community events. Anne and Bruce were Charter Members of the Sergeant Bluff Kiwanis Club.  She was very involved in organizing and running the gift shop for the annual St. Luke’s Santa’s House.

Anne is survived by her sons; Jeffrey (Stephanie) of Spirit Lake Iowa, Gregory (Lori) of Le Mars, Iowa, and Jay (Joanna) of Sergeant Bluff Iowa, sister, Linda Terry, five grandchildren, Leah Anne, Emily Rose, Joshua Logan, Zachary Jay, and Daniel Thomas, and four great grandchildren Noah, Magdalena, Evelyn, and Moses. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bruce, daughter, Laura, two sisters, Joan Millis, Connie O’Meara and her brother, Dr. Stephen Fymbo.
