Obituary

Anna M. Szczepanik, 82 of McCook Lake, South Dakota died Friday, December 1, 2023, at her residence.

Memorial Mass will be held 1 pm Saturday, December 9, 2023, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 995 N Sioux Point Rd, Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. Visitation 11 am until service time, with a Rosary at 11 am. Burial will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Fairview Heights, Illinois at a later date.

Anna was born on September 25, 1941, in Annapolis, Missouri the daughter of Vernon and Ruby (Kelly) Hampton. She graduated from the Annapolis High School and later graduated from the Lewis and Clark Community College in Illinois, with an associate degree in accounting.

Anna was united in marriage to Stanley A. Szczepanik on June 27, 1963, in St. Louis, Missouri. Anna worked for the McDonald Douglas Aircraft Company which is now known as Boeing Beoing. Anna also worked as a secretary at the Police Station in St. Louis. Later she was a Vice President at the RG Dickerson and Co. and then a diligent officer for FJ Garber. The family moved to Sioux City in 1990 where she was a paralegal at the Carter Law Firm. Before retiring, she worked at Opportunities Unlimited.

Over the years, Anna enjoyed reading and sewing, but enjoyed serving the church most. Stanley and Anna helped start the Regent for Catholic Daughters at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish.

Anna is survived by her son, Stanley Szczepanik, Jr.; daughter Stephanie Winn; grandchildren Anthony Szczepanik, Hanna Szczepanik, Ameber Winn, John Winn and Joseph Winn, a great granddaughter Ivy Winn; her brothers Joe (Erma) Hampton, Cecil (Patricia) Hampton and Gary Hampton; her sister, Loretta Steele; and her former daughter in-law, Renae Szczepanik.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stanley A. Szczepanik, Sr; her brother Alton Hampton and a sister, Mable Wind.
