Angel E. Woods, age 68, of Sioux City went home suddenly on Wednesday February 12, 2014 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday February 20, 2014 at New Life in Christ Church located at 2929 West 4th Street, with Pastor James Dean Moseley officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery where Angel will be laid to rest next to her six children. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Angel was born in Rockford, Illinois on September 3, 1946, the daughter of Champ and Dorothy (Simpkins) Matheny. Angel moved to Sioux City in 1964,she was united in marriage with Edward Woods in 1966, to this union seven children were born: Natasha, Alejandro, Cubie II, Angel II,Edward Jr, Clarence, and Brandon.
Mr. Woods passed away on February 12, 2011.
Angel worked for more than 25 years for the Woodbury County Community Action Agency; she then was employed at the Sergeant Floyd Museum. She retired in 2011, due to health reasons. Angel loved her family, friends, and her pets.
Angel was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, six children, one stepdaughter, and her beloved husband.
Her life will be remembered by her family which includes her son Brandon, of Sioux City, three step children: 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and two siblings: Lilly Mitchell of Rochelle, Illinois, and Mary Smith and her husband Roger of Kirkland, Illinois.
