Angel Gabriel Palacios, 42 of Iowa City died Saturday, October 4, 2025 at a hospital in Iowa City. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2025, with a visitation 1 hour prior at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery directly after mass. There will be a luncheon at the church to follow.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Angel was born on December 8, 1982 in Sioux City, IA to Jose Angel and Maria Guadalupe Palacios. Angel graduated from North High School in Sioux City, Iowa in 2001 and later from Iowa Western Community College in Sioux City, Iowa in 2005 with an Associate in Science degree. Angel then attended the University of Iowa working towards his bachelor degree.

Angel worked at a sorority house in Iowa City as a chef and later as a chef at a nursing facility.

His main focus was his family. He loved dancing with his nieces, nephews and family members at family gatherings. His second family in Iowa City were also very special to him throughout the years.  He lived in Iowa City for a majority of his life and he truly loved the city and the people there.

Angel loved writing and kept a journal of his daily life. He also really enjoyed writing and reading poetry. Angel enjoyed the outdoors.  Angel enjoyed riding his bike, going on walks, fishing and also camping.  He loved nature.  He enjoyed all different genres of music.  He loved playing his harmonica and drums with his friends.  Angel loved his Catholic faith and was devoted to God.

Angel is survived by his mother, Maria Guadalupe Palacios, his brothers David Palacios Sr. (Michelle) and Tony Palacios (Megan), his sisters Angela Palacios, Maria Elena Gallegos (Filomeno), Juanita (Janie) Haaf (Greg), Lupita Palacios Argueta (Jaime) and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Angel Palacios; brother-in-law, Nouk Sengchan; and a nephew, David Palacios, Jr.
