Obituary

On August 14th, 2025, at 7:10pm Amanda took her last breath, with her Mom Irene and sister Collette by her side. They were holding her and letting Amanda know she could go and told her everything is ok. We love you so much. Amanda is safe and she left us peacefully. Amanda the light of my life, (Child of God). Amanda Lynn Thomas, age 44 enrolled member of the Santee Sioux Tribe born in Iowa City, Iowa in 1981

Amanda was the beautiful daughter of Harold Dean Thomas and Irene L. WhiteEyes. Amanda had 5 siblings' one sister, Collette and four brothers: Dedric Thomas, Albert Thomas, Kyle WhiteEyes, and Seth WhiteEyes. Amanda was a loving and caring mother of four precious children, son Matthew Thomas of Washington State, daughter, Precious of Iowa, Wakia Thomas and Wanbli Thomas of Boise, Idaho.

When Amanda was little, she loved school, engaging in activities and receiving awards. Amanda played the clarinet and flute. She loved riding her little banana bike. Amanda's family went on lots of trips, they would go camping, fishing and mushroom hunting, and going to places like Craters of the Moon, Yellowstone Park, Hot Springs and underground caves. Later when Amanda lived next to the ocean, she showed us star fish, seal pups, and seaweed as large as trees. Amanda is a confirmed member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and member of Calvary Church of Boise, Idaho. Amanda personality was a kindhearted spirit and very beautiful. She was always happy and having fun.

Amanda obtained and worked throughout her years. She worked for a car dealership driving cars to different companies. She felt blessed and good about this "Look Mom," she said. She was very fortunate and lucky. Amanda also worked as a filing clerk helping elders file their income taxes and she would also take care of them, like running them to the store and running errands. Later on, she was a supervisor at La Quinta Motel, and she loved it. But the most important job Amanda had was being a homemaker. She whole heartedly Loved her children. She dressed nice and had different styles.

She participated in Special Olympics with different cultures. Amanda loved all holidays, and she loved to decorate each season. Throughout the years Amanda always had the eager to participate in her culture, attending Sundance's, Pow- Wow's, and the Sweat Lodge, keeping our traditions. She came from four tribes, Dakota, Lakota, Yankton and Omaha. Amanda had a lot of friends and relatives all over.

She is survived by her four children, her parents, Harold Thomas and Irene WhiteEyes, 5 siblings, grandpa, Arlington Saunsoci,  aunts, Elaine, Barbara, Phylis, Linda, Suzette, uncles, Terry, Mark, Paul, Alfred, Herbie, cousins: Nach, Shannon, Kenny, Angie, Dezirae, Rochelle, Darla, Shane, Angel, Merriann, Cori, Michael W., Michael S., Terry, Sinclair, Travis, Kenzie, Hailey, Faith, Kathleen, Marquerite, Eric, Lesley, Lexie, Mari, Dale, Nolan, Joani, Alfred, Jr., Audreya, Nikkayla, Patrick, Josie, Quiten, Tamera, her fur baby, Maskis.

Amanda was greeted in the Spirit World by her grandparents, Raymond and Dorothy Thomas, Katherine R. and Albert WhiteEyes, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Amanda had a Goodhearted Spirit. Keep her in your memories and be happy. Look at the evening sunset and the universe at night, this is Amanda Lynn Thomas. Don't ever forget who Amanda was, as she had a Rich Heritage.

Amanda is free now, smiling down at us.

"We Love You Mandi Forever!"

She was the Light of my Life.
