Alvin Fitzgerald Jones, Sr. 53, of South Sioux City, Ne. passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020. Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City with Pastor James D. Mosley, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery following services. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, meal from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm on Friday, June 5, 2020 at the funeral home.

Alvin was born on September 5, 1966 in Monroe, Louisiana, son of Roosevelt Williams, Jr. and Georgia Mae Jones. He was raised by his grandmother, Cordy Jones better known as “Momma” in Collinston Louisiana and was baptized at Salem #2 Baptist Church.  Alvin graduated  from Delta High School in 1985.

Alvin was very competitive in everything he did. Let's just say this, he did not like to lose at anything. He excelled in basketball and football and was given the nickname “Foots” for his raw talent on the court. In the past several years, Alvin picked up golfing and enjoyed playing golf with a host of friends.  He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, he never gave up on his Cowboys!

In 1986, Alvin relocated to Sioux City, Iowa where he worked at several production companies in the Siouxland area. Alvin was a hardworking, family man and always took care of his family.

In 1993, Alvin met the love of his life, Tracy. With his mesmerizing smile, “Casanova” captured her heart, and the two of them were married on  June 7th, 1997. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Alvin Fitzgerald Jones  Jr. and Athena Angelese Jones. Alvin had a heart of gold and was always there to lend a helping hand for family and friends. He was someone you could always count on.

Alvin and his wife made plans to “grow old together” and to travel all over the country to relax and simply enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Sadly, he was struck with an illness that would wreak havoc on his body. With his wife and children by his side, our most heavenly Father called his spirit back the morning of May 30th, 2020. We were truly blessed to have him in our lives and we trust in our most heavenly Father that he will be watching over his family until we are joined together once again in Heaven.

Survivors include his wife, Tracy Jones; mother, Georgia Mae Jones; children, Alvin F. Jones, Jr., and Athena A. Jones; brothers, Chris Jones and Terrence Johnson; sisters, LaCordia (Samuel) Jones-Martin, Vanessa (Robert) Jones-Edmonds, and Tarashi Wallace; and 10 grandchildren and a plethora of aunties, uncles, nieces and nephews and his beloved grandmother Mrs Cordy Jones.

Alvin was preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt Williams, Jr.; and son, Robert Galvin.
