Obituary

Allen W. Lindahl, 57, of Ponca, NE, formerly of Sioux City, passed away, Thursday, March 20, 2014. Services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, March 28, 2014 at Waterbury Funeral Service. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery immediately following the service.

Allen was born on June 22, 1956, in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Earl and Darlene (Dixson) Lindahl. After graduating from East High in 1975, he enlisted into the Army and was honorably discharged in 1981. Allen worked at Sioux Tools as a machinist until they closed in May of 2003. He was at Soo Tractor until 2010, then the Sioux City Foundry until 2013. He most recently was employed at Besser Company in Sioux City. Allen spent much of his time outdoors, he loved hunting with his birddog, Jessie, fishing, boating, watching the sunsets, planting flowers and tinkering around the campsite with his friends by the campfire. Allen enjoyed listening to music, with Pink Floyd being his favorite band.

Allen fought the fight of lung cancer with bravery, honor and pride. No tears were shed, only lots of courage that he had to the day he took his last breath here on Earth. He moved around through the years; Las Vegas being one of his favorite places and going to the casinos. Blackjack was his favorite game to play. He also enjoyed spending time with his close cousin, Don Tick.

Survivors include his sisters Elaine Juhl of South Sioux City, NE and Elsie Snyder and her husband Joseph of Sioux City, Aunt Bernie Dixon of Marcus, Aunt Jewel Ingersen of Granda Hills, California, Step-son Brian of Omaha, and many cousins and extended family.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Kyle Allen, and his wife Mary (Seiler) Lindahl.
