Alfredo Perez Montes de Oca, 74, of South Sioux City, NE, passed away June 6, 2024 at a local care center.  A visitation will be held Thursday, June 13th from 4-7:00 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue.

Con gran pesar anunciamos el fallecimiento de Alfredo Pérez, un devoto esposo, padre y abuelo, quien nos dejó el 06 de Junio, 2024 a la edad de 74 años. Alfredo nació en Ecatepec, México, de Heliodoro Pérez y Lucía Montes De Oca el 19 de Julio, 1949. Fue criado amorosamente por sus abuelos maternos, Concepción Montes De Oca y Leocadia Montiel.

La vida de Alfredo estuvo definida por el trabajo duro, el amor por su familia y una búsqueda incesante de mejores oportunidades. Tuvo seis hijos con Juana Caballero Toral; María Pérez, Leonila Pérez, Rocío Pérez, Alfredo Pérez Jr., Sabino Pérez y Alberto Pérez Caballero.
Trabajó como electricista en la Ciudad de México (DF), donde conoció al amor de su vida, Rafaela Reyes, en un autobús camino al trabajo. Se casaron y fueron bendecidos con cinco hijas más, Esther Adriana Pérez, Cristina Lucía Pérez, Patricia Pérez, Evelyn Pérez y Denise Micaela Pérez.

En busca de una vida mejor para su familia, Alfredo viajó a los Estados Unidos a la edad de 32 años. Inicialmente trabajó como agricultor pero luego demostró su espíritu emprendedor al iniciar su propio negocio, Green House Arguelles, en Carlsbad, California, llamado después de su amada esposa. Alfredo continuó trabajando en Lakeside, California, hasta jubilarse a la edad de 65 años. Se mudó a Sioux City Iowa a los 70 años.

El amor de Alfredo por su familia fue evidente en las muchas aventuras que los llevó. Le encantaba llevar a su familia a parques de diversiones como Disneyland, Six Flags y Universal Studios. Le gustaba ver a sus hijos participar en las atracciones y las presentaciones en vivo. Su generosidad y disposición a gastar dinero en regalos y golosinas fue su forma de mostrar su profundo amor.

Otra tradición querida eran los viajes anuales por carretera en diciembre a México desde San Diego en una de sus muchas camionetas. Durante estos viajes, Alfredo tenía restaurantes favoritos a los que insistía en pasar, especialmente uno conocido por sus tortillas hechas a mano y su pollo asado. Enseñó a sus hijos a conducir desde muy temprano, permitiéndoles a menudo recorrer las desafiantes carreteras de montaña en los viajes por carretera.

Aunque la comunicación con Alfredo no siempre fue fácil debido a su impaciencia, siempre hizo tiempo para importantes tradiciones familiares, como un memorable viaje a Juquila para orar por la riqueza. Un año, sus oraciones fueron respondidas con un importante éxito financiero, un testimonio de la fe y la perseverancia de Alfredo.

Alfredo le encantaba compartir historias, especialmente sobre cómo sobrevivió por poco un accidente como electricista y una historia divertida pero aleccionadora sobre cómo encontrar dinero después de una oración desesperada. Su ingenio y disposición para ayudar eran evidentes en cómo siempre arreglaba los autos familiares, aunque no era el mejor mecánico. No importaba el problema, Alfredo se puso a disposición.

Alfredo Pérez será recordado como un hombre de acción, cuyo amor por su familia quedó demostrado a través de su inquebrantable dedicación y los muchos sacrificios que hizo. Le sobreviven su amada esposa Rafaela, sus once hijos y una gran familia que lo extrañará profundamente.

Se llevará a cabo un funeral el 13 de Junio, 2024 en Sioux City, Iowa, seguido de un entierro en el Panteón Municipal El Trapiche, Zimatlán Oaxaca, México. La familia invita a todos los que conocieron y amaron a Alfredo a unirse para celebrar su extraordinaria vida.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alfredo Perez, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who left us on 06/06/24 at the age of 74. Alfredo was born in Ecatepec, Mexico, to Heliodoro Perez and Lucia Montes De Oca on 07/19/49. He was lovingly raised by his maternal grandparents, Concepcion Montes De Oca and Leocadia Montiel.

Alfredo's life was defined by hard work, love for his family, and a relentless pursuit of better opportunities. He had six children with Juana Caballero Toral; Maria Perez, Leonila Perez, Rocio Perez, Alfredo Perez Jr., Sabino Perez, and Alberto Perez Caballero.
He worked as an electrician in Mexico City (DF), where he met the love of his life, Rafaela Reyes, on a bus on the way to work. They married and were blessed with five more daughters Esther Adriana Perez, Cristina Lucia Perez, Patricia Perez, Evelyn Perez, and Denise Micaela Perez.

In pursuit of a better life for his family, Alfredo traveled to the United States at the age of 32. He initially worked as a farmer but later demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit by starting his own business, Green House Arguelles, in Carlsbad, California, named after his beloved wife. Alfredo continued working in Lakeside, California, until he retired at the age of 65. He moved to Sioux City Iowa at 70.

Alfredo’s love for his family was evident in the many adventures he took them on. He loved to take his family to amusement parks like Disneyland, Six Flags, and Universal Studios. He enjoyed watching his children go on the rides and the live performances. His generosity and willingness to spend money on gifts and treats was his way of showing his deep love.

Another cherished tradition was the annual December road trips to Mexico from San Diego in one of his many vans. During these trips, Alfredo had favorite restaurants he insisted on stopping by, especially one known for its handmade tortillas and grilled chicken. He taught his children to drive very early, often allowing them to navigate the challenging mountain roads on the road trips.

Though communication with Alfredo was not always easy due to his impatience, he always made time for important family traditions, such as a memorable trip to Juquila to pray for wealth. One year, his prayers were answered with significant financial success, a testament to Alfredo’s faith and perseverance.

Alfredo loved sharing stories, especially about narrowly surviving an accident as an electrician and a humorous yet cautionary tale of finding money after a desperate prayer. His resourcefulness and willingness to help were evident in how he would always fix the family cars, even though he wasn’t the best mechanic. No matter the problem, Alfredo made himself available.

Alfredo Perez will be remembered as a man of action, whose love for his family was demonstrated through his unwavering dedication and the many sacrifices he made. He is survived by his loving wife Rafaela, his eleven children, and a large extended family who will miss him deeply.

A funeral service will be held on 06/13/24 in Sioux City, Iowa followed by a burial at Panteón Municipal El Trapiche, Zimatlán Oaxaca, Mexico. The family invites all who knew and loved Alfredo to join in celebrating his remarkable life.
