Albert N. “AL” Hubert, 94 of Whiting, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, with Father Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Albert Napoleon “Al” Hubert was born September 22, 1922, on a farm near Salix, IA., the son of Albert and Blendena (Johnson) Hubert. Al graduated in 1940 from Sloan High School. He joined the United States Navy in 1944. He was a deep sea diver during WWII, receiving a honorable discharge in 1946. He married Dorothy Parker on December 12, 1946, they later divorced. Albert married Kathy Flaugh, they divorced. Al worked for the Sioux City Foundry in the Steel Fabrication division for 27 years, retiring in the early 1980’s.
Al enjoyed riding horses, buying/selling/working with automobiles, going to auctions, playing cards with his buddies, and also was known to dance a mean two-step. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by two sons, Nicholas Hubert of Le Mars and Wendell (Becky) Hubert of Sergeant Bluff; six daughters, Deborah (Ed) McLarty of Sergeant Bluff, Denise (Lyle Rickers) Hubert, and Valerie Kutzler, both of Carroll, IA, Margret (John) Jenkins of Pierce, NE, Angela Parsley of Sioux City, and Michon (Shawn) Bakke of Carroll; one brother-in-law Kermit Lee of Sloan; 29 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Al is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Victor and Tony; daughter-in-law, Dawn Hubert; two brothers, Dick and Roger; and four sisters, Rosanna Schellinger, Corinne Goodwin, Lorraine Watson and Lucille Lee.
